My name is Olaf Heidtke, and I was born on July 22, 1968, in Hanover, Germany. In 1988, I completed my Abitur and then trained as a chef.
Afterward, I worked in the service sector as a gastronomic manager in various catering establishments. From 1996 onwards, I was self-employed in the hospitality industry. Together with a business partner, I successfully ran a restaurant, a catering company, and a canteen in Hanover.
In 2014, my wife Marie, our children Samuel, Aaron, and Emily, and I embarked on our adventure in South Africa. On our property in Paterson (Eastern Cape), right next to Addo Elephant National Park, we built a lodge with wildlife. Giraffes, zebras, and various species of antelope have found a home here.
Because of my deep connection to nature, I have acquired extensive knowledge of South African wildlife and nature since our emigration. By now, I know the Addo Elephant National Park like the back of my hand and have been guiding guests through the park for years.
This led to the idea of founding Botreetours together with my friend and partner Mario Hegemann. Our goal is to offer German-language tours for small groups to the Addo Elephant National Park and along the Garden Route to Cape Town. Our offer is complemented by collaborations with accommodations to assist our guests in planning their holiday trips.
